Run As Service

Postby bjm on Tue 02/26/2008, 18:54

Hi,

Have downloaded the evaluation version of FileInbox and am curious as to whether it can run as a service or does the application need to be open in order for the file transfer to initiate?

Otherwise, it is a great little app!

Cheers

Additionally, what port does the file transfer take place on? Only that I need to open up the firewall to allow the traffic through.

Thank you for the nice comments. FileInbox doesn't have built-in support to run as a service. It requires a user to be logged in with the application running in the Windows System tray. However, you may try FireDaemon or SrvAny to run FileInbox as a service.

FileInbox only connects to a network if you're copying files to/from a network shared directory or if you're using FTP. In the FTP case, it just opens a local socket and connects to the FTP server, so only the firewall on the local system should be configured to allow FileInbox to open a FTP connection (normally to port 21 on the remote server).
